Lindbloom top HU finisher on day one

Senior Dan Lindbloom turned in HU's top performance on the first day of competition at the NAIA Outdoor Track & Field National Championships in Edwardsville, Illinois. Lindbloom finished 10th in the 3000 meter steeplechase with a time of 9:16.38 to qualify for the finals of the event on Saturday at 2:20 p.m. Junior teammate Luke Diehl also competed in the race and finished 22nd in 9:39.25.

Six other Foresters also competed on opening day. Senior Lucas Beach had a toss of 157-11 to finish 21st in the hammer throw. Junior Bethany McGraw had a leap of 16-10.75 to place 21st in the long jump. Freshman Joseph Herber placed 21st in the 10,000 meter run with a time of 32:37.99 and senior Joseph Njeri finished 26th in the same event in 33:30.84. Freshman Matthias Haller ran a 1:55.28 in the 800 meter run to place 24th and junior Kameron Bailey was 31st in the 200 meter dash with a time of 22.49.
