Ogle and Wood outrun their ranking at Nationals

MARIAN, Ind. - Huntington University senior Lance Wood and junior Cendall Ogle were among the hundreds of athletes competing in the 2013 NAIA Outdoor Track and Field Championships hosted by Indiana Wesleyan University May 23-25.

Wood (Waterville, Ohio, Toledo Christian H.S.) capped off his collegiate running career Saturday morning by outrunning his ranking in the marathon. The Waterville, Ohio native entered the race as the 64th seed and finished in 2:37:25.50 to capture 21st place.

Ogle also turned in a solid performance earlier in the week. Running for the third time on the national stage, the 27th-seeded junior (Warsaw, Ind., Warsaw H.S.) claimed 18th place in the 1500 meter trials with a time of 4:57.39 on Thursday.

The Warriors of Indiana Tech dominated the championships, clinching both team titles. The women tallied 122 points, over 39 points ahead of its nearest competitor, to run away with the title while the men logged 72 points to outlast Oklahoma Baptist by four points for the championship.
