Sauter earns All-America honors

 Huntington University freshman Tobias Sauter earned NAIA All-America honors with his fourth place finish in the 5000 meter run at the NAIA Indoor Track and Field National Championships.

As a first-time qualifier, Sauter, a freshman Recreation Management major from Baden-Wurttemberg, Germany, finished ninth in the preliminary round with a time of 15:23.39 and then took 22 seconds off his time in the finals as he crossed the line in 15:01.12.

Six other Foresters participated in the National Championships and gained valuable experience competing against the NAIA's top athletes.

Bethany McGraw, a sophomore Exercise Science major from Perrysburg, Ohio (Toledo Christian High School), competed in two events. She finished ninth in the long jump with a leap of 18-01.50, an event in which she finished 16th a year ago, and she was 21st in the triple jump with her mark of 35-10.75.

Dan Lindbloom, a junior Exercise Science major from Evergreen Park, Ill. (Chicago Christian High School) and Nick Johnson, a junior Exercise Science major from Huntington, Ind. (Huntington North High School), each competed in the 3000 meter run. Lindbloom's time of 8:42.07 in the preliminary round qualified him for the finals where he finished 11th with a time of 8:54.45. Johnson finished 15th in the prelims with a time of 8:45.54.

Joel Sanders, a senior Elementary Education major from Fort Wayne, Ind. (Snider High School), made his fourth trip to the national event and finished 12th in the 800 meter run with a time of 1:57.89.

Lucas Beach, a junior Bible and Religion and Physical Education double major from Lucerne, Ind. (Pioneer High School), had a toss of 51-10.50 in the shot put to finish 14th overall.

Joseph Njeri, a junior Sociology major form Nairobi, Kenya, competed in the 5000 meter race and was 28th in the preliminaries with a time of 16:01.70.
