Smith, Zawadzki named Forester Athletes of Week

Huntington, Ind.—The Huntington University Athletic Department announced its Athletes of the Week for the week of Feb. 23-March 1. Women’s basketball freshman Sarah Miller and men’s basketball sophomore Kellen Zawadzki earned the honor for their outstanding efforts during the week’s competitions.

Sarah Miller, an exercise science major from Eaton, Ind. (Delta High School), played an instrumental role in helping the Foresters (23-6) secure a spot in the championship game of the MCC Tournament. She averaged 15.5 points while shooting 50% (9-18) from the field and 83% (10-12) at the line in Huntington’s two games during the week. In the MCC semifinal Friday evening, Miller also hit two treys in critical situations late in the game to help secure the 67-64 victory over Indiana Wesleyan.

Kellen Zawadzki
Kellen Zawadzki, a business management major from Tipp City, Ohio (Tippecanoe High School), had an outstanding effort in Huntington’s upset win in over Grace in the opening round of the MCC Conference Tournament. Zawadzki led the team in scoring with 25 points off the bench and knocked down two free throws in the final seconds to secure the 76-73 win. He also scored 13 in the Foresters semifinal game against Indiana Wesleyan. The Foresters concluded their season with a record of 20-12.
