HUNTINGTON, Ind. - The Forester volleyball team was poised for a big upset Wednesday night at Platt Arena as they won two of the first three sets before Taylor University battled back to claim a 3-2 decision, 24-26, 25-17, 23-25, 25-22, 15-10, over HU.

HU made it clear they weren’t backing down from one of the top teams in the league as they scrapped their way to a win in game one to set the tone. The Foresters went on to snag a third set win, giving their home crowd plenty to cheer about but in the end, the Trojans got the best of HU by mounting an impressive comeback in the fifth set to secure the win.

Melissa Grossman paced her team with 19 kills, a .548 hitting percentage and five blocks. She also had plenty help from Audrey Mallers and Heather Medich who finished with 12 and ten kills respectively. Jensen Carnahan dished out 51 assists to go along with two aces. Defensively, Codie Morey tallied 17 digs while Medich added 16.

Huntington drops to 7-18 overall, 3-11 in conference. They are back in action on Friday for their last home contest of the season when they host Mount Vernon at 7:00 p.m.

The Huntington University Foresters compete in 16 intercollegiate sports for men and women. In the past decade, Huntington has produced 39 NAIA All-America honors and 213 All-America Scholar Athlete honors.
