Van Kampen to become a Forester

HUNTINGTON, Ind. – Head coach Roger Ferguson and the HU women’s tennis program has inked its first recruit for the 2014-15 season with the signing of Timothy Christian standout Erin Van Kampen.

Van Kampen helped guide her team to 38 wins against three losses over her final two years in red and black. In addition to boasting a perfect record of 19-0 Van Kampen's junior year, the Trojans were also MSC conference champs. Van Kampen and crew followed up their unblemished year by posting a 19-3 record this past season to make for an accomplished senior campaign.

A major contributor to TCHS’s success, Van Kampen compiled a record of 16-3 as a junior and for her efforts received All-Conference honors. This past season, the Lombard (Ill.) native amassed a 19-2 record to repeat as an All-Conference honoree and topped off her prep career as an Illinois state qualifier in doubles.

When not playing tennis, Van Kampen stays busy as the co-editor of her high school yearbook. She also plays soccer for the Trojans and works part-time at Park Place Retirement Community.

"I choose HU because everyone was so nice during my visits,” said Van Kampen of Huntington. “The school really reflected a Christian atmosphere, which was important to me.

“The campus is beautiful and the size of the school is ideal, large enough for a variety of activities but small enough to get to know people. I'm looking forward receiving a Christ centered education and playing tennis at HU."

Van Kampen plans to major in business. She is the daughter of David and Cindy of Lombard, Illinois.
