HUNTINGTON , IN — Mr. Ron Coffey has accepted appointment as Vice President for Student Development of Huntington College, effective immediately.
“Ron brings 20 years of professional experience to the role,” said Huntington College president, Dr. G. Blair Dowden. “His intimate knowledge of Huntington College as well as his demonstrated administrative and leadership ability make him an outstanding choice. I am certain that Ron will work effectively to strengthen our high-quality Student Development Program.”
Coffey's appointment follows a series of interviews with students, faculty, staff, administrators and trustees. "Respondents praised Ron's service as interim vice president and expressed enthusiastic support for his leadership," Dowden said. "They noted his passion for students, Huntington College, and our Lord, as well as his creativity and interpersonal skills."
Coffey's confirmation as vice president came today following the unanimous approval of the Executive Committee of the Board of Trustees.
"Ron has given exemplary service to the students of Huntington College," Dowden added.
A veteran of the Huntington College administration, Coffey served nine years as Associate Dean for Student Development and held the position of Interim Vice President for Student Development this past year. Coffey earned a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and Management from Huntington College , a master’s degree in Student Personnel Administration from Ball State University ( Ind. ) and is finishing a PhD in Higher Education Administration and Leadership from Indiana State University . Coffey is a former Resident Director and Youth for Christ Director.
