O’Leary named Forester Athlete of the Week

HUNTINGTON, Ind. - The Huntington University Athletic Department announced its Athlete of the Week for the week of April 1-7, 2013. Softball freshman Emily O’Leary earned the honor for her outstanding effort during the week’s competitions.

An exercise science major from Hebron, Ind. (Hebron HS), O’Leary helped guide the Foresters to a 3-3 record last week over spring break. Having just finished up her bowling season the week before, the third baseman made her softball debut last week and didn’t seem to miss a beat.

O’Leary hit .538 for the week with seven hits that included two doubles. She also drew five base on balls, scored three runs and drove in ten more throughout the week.

Huntington (5-5) returns to action today at 3:00 p.m. when they travel Marian University for a doubleheader.
The Huntington University Foresters compete in 16 intercollegiate sports for men and women. In the past decade, Huntington has produced 46 NAIA All-America honors and 202 All-America Scholar Athlete honors.
