The Foresters won their third doubleheader of the week downing the University of St. Francis 4-2 and 3-2 to stay perfect at 6-0 in MCC play. The two wins move HU to 11-6 overall on the season.
The Foresters jumped out to a 3-0 lead after two innings of play in game one. St. Francis got one back in the top of the fifth, but HU answered in the bottom of the inning on a Korey Grow shot over the right field fence. The Cougars got another run in the sixth, but it was as close as they would get.
Austan Kas, Alex Rinearson and Edwin Rodriguez each had two hits in the game to lead HU at the plate. Eric Randel (3-1) threw five innings in the winning effort. He gave up two runs on four hits and two walks while striking out one. Korey Grow took over on the mound in the seventh and picked up his third save on the year.
In game two, St. Francis out-hit the Foresters 8-4, but HU's use of the longball made up for the deficit. With the Cougars leading 2-1 after batting in the fourth, the Foresters got back-to-back jacks from Rinearson and Farris in their half of the fourth to take the 3-2 lead. Again it was Grow who took over in relief of starter Trent Huffman in the final inning to earn his second save of the day.
Huffman allowed two runs on seven hits and one walk in six innings of work to move to 2-0 on the season. Farris paced HU at the plate with two hits. He had a double to go along with his fourth-inning homerun.
