Missouri Baptist University scored early and often to take down the Foresters (1-5) 11-6.
The Spartans opened the scoring with three runs in the bottom of the first and they scored at least one run in each of the first six innings for a total of 11 runs. HU plated two in the top of third on a two-run homerun by Edwin Rodriguez.
In the top of the sixth, Andrew Drummond got things started for HU with a leadoff dinger to center, and two outs later, Vince Moore got a pinch hit single to drive in Travis Frantz and Jarod Hammel. The three runs got the Foresters within 10-5, but the five-run margin was as close as HU would get. Missouri Baptist push another run across in the bottom of the sixth and Rodriguez closed out the scoring with his second long ball of the game in the top of the seventh.
Mitch Bowers took the loss for the Foresters. He went four and a third innings and allowed nine runs on 10 hits and two walks while striking out two. Rodriguez led the Foresters at the plate with two hits and three RBI.
