JACKSON, Mich. - After shooting an impressive 286, a 14-stroke lead over their nearest competitor, on day one of Spring Arbor’s Bill Bockwitz Invitational, the Forester golf team shot a 304 on Saturday to extend the lead to 17 strokes and claim the title at Cascades Golf Course in Jackson, Michigan.
Mickey Belt was a picture of consistency as he shot a one-under-par 143 (71, 72) for the tourney to bring home top medalist honors.
Josh Teulker led the field after Friday’s round by shooting a five-under-par 67. He along with teammate Rylan Porter (74, 73) finished in a tie for third with a 147.
Devin Dale turned in a 155 (74, 81) to slide into 16th place overall while Lance Hoch carded a 79 both days to rounded out HU’s scoring.
Derek Zurcher played as an individual and finished with a 162 (81, 81).
HU claimed the invitational with 590 points followed by Spring Arbor (607), Northwestern Ohio (612), Siena Heights (616), Cornerstone (620), Madonna B (622), Madonna A (623), Saint Francis (629), Aquinas (634), Rochester (650), Goshen (657), Lourdes (663) and Cleary (684).
The Foresters (12-0) are back on the links Monday for Bethel College’s Battle at Blackhorn.
