Huntington University Men’s Soccer Coach Russ Lawson has announced that Botkins High School midfielder, Jared Boyd has signed a letter of intent to play soccer at HU this fall. This past season, Jared helped lead the Trojans to a 12-3-2 record while scoring a team-high 12 goals. He capped off his senior year with a selection to the Miami Valley All District 1st Team. Boyd finishes his career as Botkins all-time leading goal scorer and assist leader with 52 goals and 11 dishes.
“With Jared we are getting a versatile player who has the ability to play all roles in the midfield,” said Coach Lawson. “His ball distribution and composure are very solid. When you combine those qualities with his knack for getting forward and finishing, we feel we have a lot to be excited about.”
Boyd also will be helping to blaze a trail in one of Huntington’s newest departments by pursuing a nursing degree. Jared is the son of Jon and Lori Boyd of Wapakoneta, OH.
