Bethel's King Shuts Down Foresters

Bethel College hurler, Mandy King, shut out the Foresters 7-0 in game one and came on in relief in game two to help the Pilots secure the 9-5 win for the sweep. In the opener, HC managed just three hits against King while tallying seven strike outs. Bethel got two runs in the first, second, and fourth and added one more in the sixth. Kendra Stahl (2-6) went the distance for the Foresters in the loss.

Game two got off to a better start with HC putting four runs on the board in the first inning and another in the second, but the Pilots scored three in each of their first two at-bats to give them a 6-5 advantage after two innings. King then took over on the mound for Bethel and duplicated her numbers from game one allowing the Foresters just three hits and striking out seven over the final five innings. Bethel added two more runs in the fourth and one in the fifth to put the game out of reach for HC. Liz Rapone (1-3) pitched three innings in the loss, giving up six runs, three earned, while striking out two. The women fall to 3-18 on the season and 0-8 in the MCC.
