Beach, Roughia named Forester Athletes of the Week

Huntington, Ind.—The Huntington University Athletic Department announced its Athletes of the Week for the week of March 5-11. Women’s track sophomore Jill Roughia and men’s track sophomore Lucas Beach earned the honor for their outstanding efforts during the week’s competitions.

Jill Roughia, a history education major from Bryant, Ind. (Jay County High School), made her second appearance in the NAIA Indoor Track and Field National Championships in the 1000 meter run. After finishing 20th in the event last year, she improved to a 10th place finish with a time of 3:07.92 in this year’s competition.

Lucas Beach, a Bible and religion and physical education double major from Lucerne, Ind. (Pioneer High School), earned his second NAIA All-America honor with his sixth place finish in the shot put at the NAIA Indoor Track and Field National Championships. He came up with a toss of 54-08.00, which was an improvement on his personal best of 53-02.25 set at last year's national competition. His new mark is the second-best toss on the HU record books.
