Davenport, Batt named Forester Athletes of Week

 Huntington, Ind.—The Huntington University Athletic Department announced its Athletes of the Week for the week of March 26-April 1. Women’s track sophomore Lauren Davenport and men’s golf Junior Spencer Batt earned the honor for their outstanding efforts during the week’s competitions.

Lauren Davenport, an exercise science major from Andrews, Ind. (Huntington North High School), had a strong individual performance at the Liberty University Asics Track Invitational. She ran her best time as a Forester in the 800-meter run to finish sixth with her time of 2:23.61, and she ran a leg in the women’s 4x400 relay that finished fifth with a time of 4:08.15. The Foresters next travel to Manchester College for a tri-meet with Bethel College on April 5 at 3 p.m.

Spencer Batt, a business major from New Haven, Ind. (New Haven High School), took medalist honors at the Manchester Spartan Invitational with a two round score of 149. Batt posted a 78 on the first 18 holes and then fired a tournament low 71 in the second round. The Foresters were second in the seven-team invite with a team score of 626. Huntington returns to action on April 6 at the Indiana Wesleyan University Invitational held at Meshingomeshia Golf Club in Marion, Ind.
