Huntington, Ind. - The Huntington men's and women's track team finished fifth and fourth respectively at the Yellow Jacket Open hosted by Defiance College on Friday afternoon.
Pacing the women was Cendall Ogle who finished first in the 800 with a winning time of 2:26.57 and second in the 1500 in 5:02.48. Josann Schoeff ran to a third place finish in the 100 (13.60) and her time of 27.57 in the 200 earned her the fourth place spot. HU placed three runners in the top eight of the 5000 meters with Bradie Vance leading the way (5th, 20:23.93), Molly Shirey in sixth (20:38.28) and Miranda Boyts in eighth (20:51.42).
Other point getters for the Foresters included Rachel Bayon in the 100 (7th, 14.21), Mariah Town in the 400 (6th, 1:06.64), Krystal McHenry in the 1500 (6th, 5:22.21), Diamond Setterberg in the 1500 (8th, 5:25.39), Holly Lutton in the 100 meter hurdles (6th, 17.20) and pole vault (6th, 7-08.50) and Kelsey Green in the discus (3rd, 109-06).
Tiffin won the women's event with a score of 236 followed by Adrian (130), Defiance (116), HU (62.50), Cuyahoga CC (47), Olivet (35), Trine (32.50), Bluffton (30), Three Rivers Racing (8) and Owens CC (4).
For the men, Joseph Herber brought home a top finish in the 1500 with a time of 4:11.22 and finished second in the 5000 with a 15:56.32 finish. Edging out Herber in the 5000 was teammate Lance Wood who finished in 15:56.27. Todd Fielder brought home two third place finishes in the javelin (150-00) and long jump (20-09.75).
Other top eight finishers included Sean LaFontaine in the 400 (2nd, 58.11), Alec Rosario in the 3000 meter steeplechase (3rd, 10:21.51), TJ Short in high jump (7th, 5-08.75), Ryan Morris in pole vault (6th, 12-03.50) and Logan Knox in the hammer throw (7th, 137-04).
Tiffin finished first for the men with 305 points followed by Adrian (113.50), Defiance (102), Trine (91), HU (75.50), Olivet (15) and Bluffton (3).
