On the final weekend of spring break, the Foresters competed at the Emory University Invitational in Atlanta, Georgia. The Forester men finished seventh of 21 teams with 56 points and the women were 15th in an 18-team field with 10 points.
In men's action, three Foresters won individual events. Lucas Beach won the shot put with a toss of 50-10.00. Beach also placed fourth in the hammer throw with a distance of 156-07. Nick Johnson crossed first in the 5000 meter run with a time of 15:28.79 and Dan Lindbloom was the winner in the 3000 meter steeplechase in 9:33.39. Other men's highlights included two third place finishes by Joel Sanders (800, 1:55.33) and Joseph Njeri (10,000, 33:00.00) and Kameron Bailey was fourth in the 400 meter dash with a time of 50.39.
Emory University won the men's team title with 91 points. Rounding out the top five was Cedarville (88), Shorter (85), Hope (83) and Carthage (74).
In the women's competition, Bethany McGraw was HU's top finisher with two fourth place finishes in the long jump (17-02) and triple jump (34-00.75). Bradie Vance was the only other Forester to earn a top 10 finish. Vance was eighth in the 5000 meter run with a time of 20:49.14.
Jacksonville State was the winner of the women's event with 124 points. Rounding out the top five was Cedarville (110.5), Emory (82.5), Wisconsin Eau Claire (73.5) and Hope (61).
