Women take first at Raven Invitational

Huntington, Ind. - The Foresters competed in the Anderson University Raven Invitational on Saturday where the women captured the team title while the men finished fourth.

Josann Schoeff was the most decorated competitor for HU. She won both the 55 meter dash (7.66) and the 200 meters (27.62) and ran a leg of the winning 4 x 200 relay that won in 1:53.35. Other members of the winning relay team were Emilie Jamison, Rachel Bayon and Mariah Town. Cendall Ogle ran to a first place finish in the 800 with a time of 2:29.53 and finished second in the mile (5:25.17).

Other top three finishes included:
Miranda Boyts - 1,000 meters (2nd, 3:33.67)
Holly Lutton - 55 meter hurdles (2nd, 9.54)
Krystal McHenry - 5,000 meters (3rd, 19:39.41)
Mariah Town - 400 meters (3rd, 1:06.63)
Mariah Town - long jump (2nd, 15-06.75)
Rachel Bayon - 55 meter dash (2nd, 7.74)
Rachel Bayon - 200 meters (3rd, 28.75)
Ashley Williams - shot put (3rd, 32-09.75)

The Foresters won the invitational with a score of 117 followed by Manchester (115), Hanover (104), Anderson (75), Earlham (42), Transylvania (37) and Indiana East (15).

On the men's side, Joseph Herber and Sean LaFontaine each brought home a top finish in their respective events. Herber won the 5,000 meters with his time of 15:12.41 and LaFontaine ran to a first place in the 400 meters with a winning time of 52.99. Other top three finishers included Ryan Morris in pole vault (2nd, 12-05.50) and Todd Fiedler in long jump (3rd, 19-04.75). The distance medley team finished third with a time of 11:41.70.

The host Ravens won the competition with a team score of 159 followed by Manchester (108), Earlham (90), HU (65.50), Hanover (56.50), Transylvania (19) and Indiana East (8).
