Foresters Stun Bethel

The Foresters overcame a sluggish start to stun the Bethel College Pilots in four, winning 26-30, 30-16, 30-25, 30-28. Late in game one, HC's offense finally started to click with some quick sets to Tiffany Malfait in the middle, but they ran out of time in the comeback attempt. Their momentum carried over into game two as they ran away with the 30-16 win. In game three, the Foresters went on a 5-0 run to start the game and were able to maintain the five-point lead most throughout most of the game. The Pilots picked up their intensity in game four and jumped out to a 6-0 lead and were still ahead 18-14 when HC's Kellie Hanson entered the game to serve. Hanson served back-to-back aces and went on to score six more points to give the Foresters a 22-18 lead. Bethel battled back within one at 29-28, but Amy Wilson put down one of her team-leading 13 kills to give HC the victory. "This was probably one of Amy's best matches of the year," said Coach Schroeder. "She did a great job at the net and she and Stephanie Stearns kept us in the match with their fabulous defense. Kellie's serving helped us pull off a win in game four, and Tiffany Malfait, Andrea Tobey, and Renee Biberstine dominated the net with their blocking. It was a great team effort." Jessica Kendall, along with Wilson, had 13 kills in the match, Jami Fusselman had 38 assists, Stearns had 37 digs, and Tobey and Malfait both had four blocks to lead the team. The win gives the women a 15-18 record on the season and completes their MCC record at 3-5.
