The Foresters dropped just one game in four matches on their way to winning the Defiance College Tournament.
HU opened the tournament facing the host Yellow Jackets on Friday and knocked them off in three straight 30-13, 30-25, 33-31. Amy Wilson and Tiffany Malfait each put down 10 kills to lead the Forester attach. Kellie Hanson had 17 assists and Alyssa Schroeder added 15. Stephanie Stearns had 27 digs and Amanda Meyers served six aces in the match.
Daemen College also succumbed to HU in three straight 30-20, 30-17, 30-28 in their second match on Friday. Brittney Smelser and Renee Biberstine each recorded a team-high 12 kills, Schroeder had 29 assists, Stearns added 11 digs and Wilson had five aces.
In their first match on Saturday morning, the Foresters dropped game one to the University of Findlay, but then won the next three to put away the Oilers 26-30, 30-20, 30-23, 30-13. Biberstine tallied 20 kills in the match and Wilson added 17. Kayley Cervenka had six blocks while Schroeder contributed five blocks and dished out 60 assists. Stearns had 30 digs and three aces.
HU completed the sweep with the 30-21, 30-22, 30-17 win over Shawnee State University in Saturday's final match. Wilson again took top honors at the net with 14 kills. Malfait led the team with six blocks, Stearns had 26 digs and Wilson and Meyers added two aces apiece. Malfait was the lone Forester named to the All-Tournament team.
With the four wins, the Foresters improve to 7-2 on the season.
