HUNTINGTON, Ind. - The Huntington University volleyball program and head coach Amy Settle have announced the most recent addition to their 2012-13 roster with the signing of Lakewood Park Christian School standout Kelsey Kruse .
A 5-foot-10 middle and outside hitter for the Panthers, Kruse led her team to a 15-9 record during her senior season with 136 kills and 38 blocks to go along with 32 aces. The Auburn, Indiana native capped of her prep career by earning KPC First Team All-Area and LPCS’s Offensive Player of the Year honors.
Kruse has also been a key cog to the Panthers' basektball and softball programs throughout her four years in blue and black. On the basketbll court, she averaged just over ten points an outing as a senior and this past spring she helped guide her softball squad to a state championship where she was selected as the IHSAA 1A Mental Attitude Award honoree.
“Kelsey is a great fit for Huntington University,” said Coach Settle. “She is a young woman of faith, scholarship and talent who will make an immediate impact on our community and in our volleyball program.
“When she attended a practice with us this spring, it was obvious that she could play at our level and even more importantly, she developed an instant rapport with our returning players; she was just really personable, self-confident and had a passion for the game. We are thrilled to have her on our squad!”
Kruse is the daughter of Mitchell and Susan Kruse of Auburn, Indiana.
