Bean, Berry earn NAIA honors

The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) has announced its awards for the 2005-06 season and Huntington University’s Betsey Bean and Amy Berry were among the honorees.

Bean earned NAIA All-America Scholar-Athlete honors for the second time in her career. All recipients of the award are either a junior or senior academically, carry above a 3.5 cumulative grade point average, and excel on the basketball court. This season Bean, a senior forward, started every game for the Foresters and finished as the team’s leading rebounder (6.4) and third-leading scorer (12.3). Bean finished her career as the program's 14th all-time scorer with 1,041 points.

Berry, a First Team All-Conference pick in the Mid-Central Conference, earned Honorable Mention All-America honors. Berry, a junior forward, also started every game for Huntington. She was the team’s leading scorer at 16.9 points per game and finished 12th in the nation with her 53.2% field goal percentage.
