HUNTINGTON, Ind. - After scrapping its way to a fifth-place finish in the Crossroads League, the Huntington University women’s basketball team had three Foresters honored by the conference.
For the third time in as many seasons, senior guard Sarah Miller-Jennings (Eaton, Ind., Delta HS) was selected Second Team All-Conference. The 5-6 guard is averaging 13.5 points per outing which places her 7th among her conference peers. A member of the All-Newcomer Team as a freshman, Miller-Jennings currently ranks third in the league in free throw percentage (85.8%) and 3-point field goal percentage (38.9%) which places her 10th and 24th, respectively, in these two categories in NAIA Division II.
For her career, Miller-Jennings has scored 1,673 points to currently claim the 5th spot in HU’s 1,000 point club.
Junior guard Pazia Speed earned her second All-Conference honor by being named Honorable Mention All-Conference this season. Named to the All-Freshman Team as a rookie, the Portland, Indiana native (Jay County HS) is currently averaging 13.3 points (8th in the league) and 2.68 assists (10th in the league) per outing. She sizzles the nets at a clip of 49.1 percent which places her 4th in the conference, 28th in NAIA Division II. To date, Speed has accumulated 886 points and 271 rebounds.
Rookie Amelia Recker rounds out HU’s All-Conference awards by being named to the All-Freshman Team. Recker (Arlington, Ohio, Arlington HS) has been a consistent starter for HU and is currently averaging 8.8 points and 4.4 rebounds. She pulls down 1.9 offensive rebounds per night which places her 14th in the conference. The 5-9 forward has scored in double digits on 12 different occasions and posted a career high 19 points against Mount Vernon on January 5.
