Finding the right fit for a position can be a difficult task, but Huntington University’s Enterprise Resource Center has made that process easier for one local employer.
Parkview Huntington Hospital has partnered with the University to provide job shadowing experiences for HU students in physical/occupational/speech therapy, cardiac/pulmonary rehab, diabetes education, nutritional education/dietetics and adult fitness.
“Exposure to students for possible future employment at PHH is a benefit to both the hospital and HU,” said Holly Sale, director of the Rehab and Wellness/Physicians Specialty Clinic. “It is a win-win opportunity and a wonderful collaboration.”
Sale has supervised several HU students throughout her 28 years at Parkview. One of those students, exercise science major Andy Miller (’05), turned his job shadowing experience into a full-time job.
“He was a student with us, and when an employment opportunity came up later, I contacted him to see if he was interested,” Sale said. “We hired him, and it has been positive. I already knew something about him, and he was already familiar with the department, so that made the orientation much easier and more efficient.”
