Millard commits Forester soccer

Matthew MillardHUNTINGTON, Ind. - The Huntington University men’s soccer program and head coach Russ Lawson have announced that Matthew Millard, a native of Mount Gilead, Ohio, will be joining the Foresters this fall.

Millard is a central defender who anchored Mansfield Christian High School’s back line to the state championship game this past fall.

The three-time all-district player has many qualities that Coach Lawson is looking for in his defenders. “He reads the game extremely well, organizes, loves to get stuck in on his challenges and is disciplined with the ball at his feet.”

Millard’s contributions to his school and team extend beyond the playing field.  He is a member of the national honor society and has twice been named the school’s Timothy Leadership award winner for most inspirational player.

Milalrd will finish up his club career with the Columbus Crew before he joins Coach Lawson and crew in August.

Matthew is the son of Frank and Laura Millard from Mount Gilead, Ohio.

The Huntington University Foresters compete in 16 intercollegiate sports for men and women. In the past decade, Huntington has produced 39 NAIA All-America honors and 213 All-America Scholar Athlete honors. Huntington University is a comprehensive Christian college of the liberal arts offering graduate and undergraduate programs in more than 70 academic concentrations. U.S.News & World Report ranks Huntington among the best colleges in the Midwest.
