Joined the Huntington University faculty in 2019.

Dr. David Lewis has served in numerous ministry positions including Youth Pastor, Missionary, Associate and Senior Pastor, University Chaplain, and Interim Pastor. A collegiate All-American soccer player, upon graduation he played two seasons with Athletes in Action in southern California. He coached high school soccer, wrestling, and softball before embarking upon a 34-year career coaching Women’s Soccer. His teams have travelled to five continents using soccer as a ministry platform.

David founded the academic sports ministry program at Houghton University (NY), developing and teaching its courses. He transitioned to Huntington in 2019 to coach and to teach sport management. Following the 2024 season, he stepped away from coaching and continues to teach and to serve as the Athletic Department Chaplain. David co-authored the textbook, Sports Ministry, a 2024 publication of Human Kinetics. Besides coaching and leading international sports ministry trips, he has experience with sport facility/event management, fitness center administration, directing large-scale residential soccer camps, and serving on regional and national collegiate athletic committees. David has Religion/Philosophy, Master of Divinity, and Doctor of Ministry degrees, and multiple coaching certifications.

David and his wife, Eileen, enjoy living in Huntington. They have two adult daughters who have blessed them with five grandchildren. They are active members at Huntington First Church of the Nazarene. Besides attending grandchildren activities, David enjoys weightlifting, cooking, and watching the Buffalo Bills and English Premier Soccer.
