Joined the Huntington University faculty in 2024.

With more than 15 years of experience in higher education, Dr. Gregory Jones is committed to helping students develop a deeper understanding of the past and its relevance to the present. He strives to engage students through critical thinking, historical analysis, and meaningful discussions that connect historical events with contemporary issues.

Jones is a historian and educator specializing in 19th-century United States history, with particular expertise in the Civil War era, war and society, and American cultural history. His teaching and research interests include U.S. history, historiography, military history, geography, and contemporary issues in historical context.

Jones’ scholarly work has appeared in edited volumes and academic publications, and his doctoral research examined the experiences of Civil War soldiers and their families in southeastern Ohio.

Recently, he's been working on cultural history projects on sports and music topics as well. He currently also teaches online for a few other colleges and universities. Jones is married with two children. He enjoys Pittsburgh sports, gaming, and indie music.
