Heather Wilson

Assistant Professor of Education

Joined the Huntington University faculty in 2025.

Heather Wilson is an assistant professor in the Department of Education at Huntington University. She teaches elementary literacy courses and assists with other education courses as needed. Wilson also directs the HU Literacy Lodge, a tutoring center and resource hub located in Loew-Brenn Hall.

Wilson's goal is to equip future teachers and practicing educators with practical, effective tools for literacy instruction. Through her courses and work at the HU Literacy Lodge, she seeks to prepare teacher candidates to confidently apply Structured Literacy practices in their future classrooms while helping local teachers strengthen their instructional skills.

Wilson is originally from Vincennes, Indiana, and currently lives in Huntington with her husband, Nick, and their three children, Emma, Isaac, and Bennet. Her family enjoys supporting Chicago sports teams, especially the Bears and Cubs. Wilson attends Emmanuel Community Church, where she serves on the worship team. She also enjoys reading, learning new games, and meeting new people.
