Max Garwood holds a Bachelor and Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from Purdue University and a Juris Doctor from the Indiana University School of Law in Indianapolis. He is licensed as a Professional Engineer, Attorney, and Patent Attorney.

Mr. Garwood brings more than 45 years of combined experience in engineering and intellectual property law. He served as an Electronics Engineer with the U.S. Department of Defense for 25 years, where he played a key role in the development and procurement of advanced electronic systems. His work supported a wide range of defense applications, including communication systems, avionics, guidance systems, onboard computers, and systems used in submarines, aircraft, ground installations, and space technologies such as the inertial upper stage rocket booster.

Following his government service, Mr. Garwood transitioned into patent law, where he has practiced for over two decades. His work as a Patent Attorney has included drafting and prosecuting patent applications across diverse technologies, from fishing rods and electro-mechanical devices to electronic components and encryption methods.
