David Van Tilburg to present Alumni Recital
Huntington, Ind.- Huntington College will present a Homecoming Recital featuring alumnus David Van Tilburg on Saturday, October 2, at 3:30 p.m. in the Longaker Recital Hall of the Merillat Centre for the Arts.
David Van Tilburg is currently in his nineteenth year of teaching vocal music at Celina High School. While devoted to the teaching field, Van Tilburg presents solo recitals and also serves as an accompanist and organist. For the Huntington concert, he will perform works by Beethoven, Rachmaninoff and Franck.
Van Tilburg graduated from Huntington College in 1973 with a bachelor's degree in music education. He then pursued a master's degree in piano performance from Bowling Green State University, where he studied under the direction of Bernard Lehman, Genita Speicher and Dr. Elizabeth Cobb. He pursued post-graduate work under the guidance of Dr. Walter Baker, Valerie Kantorski and Jerome Rose.
Music education and music performance are among nearly 50 academic concentrations available from Huntington College. Founded in 1897, the Christian liberal arts college is located on a contemporary, lakeside campus in Huntington, Indiana.
