Foundation recognizes Fox, Surfus

Huntington, Ind. " Huntington College Grant Scholars, Ashley Fox and Amber Surfus, were recognized at the monthly Huntington College Foundation breakfast on September 10. Scholarships from the Huntington County Grant are awarded only to Huntington County residents and can follow the recipient through all four years at Huntington College as long as qualifying standards are met. Ashley Fox is a senior social studies education major. He has been very active in Huntington College activities, most recently touring the Midwest throughout the summer as a member of the College theatre troupe that presented Cotton Patch Gospel. In addition, Fox has been involved in HC theatre performances of Second Shepherd's Play, Side Show and Into the Woods. He is a member of the HC concert choir and has worked with the Communication Department's radio station, WQHC 105.5 FM, and its television show, Vision. Fox is a member of Kappa Delta Pi, the educational honor society in which a student must achieve a 3.3 cumulative grade point average and be at least a sophomore who exhibits the ideals of scholarship, high personal standards and promise in teaching and allied professions.
Amber Surfus is a sophomore chemistry " pre-med major. Surfus has high goals of entering into the medical field and dedicates herself to long hours of studying and developing skills suited for the profession. She has been a volunteer youth group leader and has participated in Campus Life. Surfus also takes voice lessons as she continues to pursue her talents in music.
Being a recipient of the Huntington College Grant has made my college education not only less stressful, but also possible! stated Surfus. The career path I have chosen takes several years of college and this grant is extremely appreciated.
