Ganton earns second Athlete of the Week honor

HUNTINGTON , IN " The Huntington College Athletics Department announced its Athlete of the Week for the week of November 22-28, 2004 . Men's basketball sophomore Kyle Ganton earned the honor for the second time in as many weeks with his outstanding efforts.

Kyle Ganton, an elementary education major from Coldwater , Mich. (Bronson High School), backed up his exceptional play last week with an even stronger performance this week to help lead the Foresters to a 2-1 week. After averaging 20.5 points in four contests a week ago, Ganton raised his game another level dropping in 22.7 points in three games this week. In Tuesday's MCC opener, he went 8-12 from the field including 3-3 from behind the arc to top all scorers with 21 points in the Foresters' 70-63 victory over Indiana Wesleyan University . In Huntington 's 91-81 loss to NCAA Division I IUPUI, Ganton scored all of his 19 points in the second half to lead a charge that helped get the Foresters back in the game. He concluded the week by scoring a career-high 28 points in Huntington 's 82-63 rout of the Rio Grande Redmen. He went 8-14 from the field, including 5-7 from downtown, and 7-8 from the line. He also added seven rebounds and two assists in the game. The Foresters (7-4, 1-0) return to action on Tuesday, November 30, at 7:00 p.m. They will host the Cougars of St. Francis in the second Mid-Central Conference game of the year.

The Huntington College Foresters compete in 14 intercollegiate sports for men and women. In the past seven years, Huntington has produced 49 NAIA All-American honors and 91 All-American Scholar Athlete honors.
