Hacker, Burson honored with University’s Peer Awards

Huntington, Ind. "Recipients of the Huntington University Peer Award for the month of April are Shelia Hacker and Susie Burson.

Sharon Woods, director of financial aid, passed the Peer Award to Shelia Hacker. Shelia is the assistant director of financial services and has been with Huntington University for 17 years.

In recognizing Hacker, Woods said, It has truly been an honor and a pleasure to work with Shelia over the past several years. She has a big heart for students and their families and is genuinely concerned about their personal circumstances. She works diligently in trying to resolve financial issues with a loving and caring attitude. I appreciate her leadership, organizational abilities, attention to detail and ability to resolve conflicts in a Christ-like manner. Shelia has been a wonderful encourager and I really appreciate the love and support she has given to me over the years.


Bruce Evans gives the Peer Award to Susie Burson.
Bruce Evans, professor of biology, passed the Peer Award to Susie Burson. Susie is an instructor in education and has been with Huntington University for four years.

In recognizing Burson, Evans said, Susie is a hard-working, innovative, and creative colleague. Since she has been here, she has been involved in numerous activities to engage students in and out of the classroom. Recently, she organized a Discovery Day field trip for about 200 second graders in Huntington County. Students and teachers alike were pleased and impressed with how fun and informative this experience turned out to be. I appreciate having Susie as an important member of the Huntington University faculty and look forward to working with her in the future when the occasions arise. Susie, thanks for caring!
