Huntington College Enrollment Hits New Record High

HUNTINGTON, IN "Huntington College has broken enrollment records for the sixth consecutive year. Total enrollment at the Christian liberal arts college now stands at a record high, with the largest undergraduate population in the school's 103-year history.

The total student headcount for the fall semester is 912, including 826 undergraduates, 39 adults enrolled in the EXCEL Program, and 47 graduate students. Full-time undergraduate enrollment now stands at an all-time record of 799.

Huntington College has experienced dramatic growth in recent years. Total enrollment is up by more than 58% since 1993, the year Huntington College set an enrollment goal of 1,000 students by the fall of 2000. This year's record poises the College to reach that goal next fall.

To accommodate this growth, Huntington College opened two new residence halls this semester. Meadows Hall and Miller Hall will be dedicated during Homecoming festivities on October 2. The College is now making plans for other campus improvements, including classroom renovations and a new 75,000-square-foot science and technology center.

Huntington's academic reputation is credited for the growth trend. In recent years, US News and World Report has consistently ranked Huntington College in the top tier of Midwestern liberal arts colleges. Such public acclaim is helping Huntington attract greater numbers of well-qualified students. This year's incoming freshman class had a grade point average of 3.34 on a 4.0 scale, the highest incoming GPA in Huntington College history. The four-year liberal arts college offers undergraduate and graduate degrees in nearly 50 academic concentrations.

Huntington College's integration of faith and learning is also an important distinction contributing to its growth. Nationally, the Council for Christian Colleges and Universities has reported rapid growth among its 95 member institutions " a growth rate exceeding that of secular institutions, public or private. Huntington College's mission is "to educate men and women to impact our world for Christ." The College has been listed frequently in the prestigious John Templeton Foundation Honor Roll of Character-Building Colleges.
