Huntington included in Christian college guide

HUNTINGTON, IN OCTOBER 31, 1996 --- Every year, high school and non-traditional students alike begin the important search for the best "fit" between themselves and that next level of higher education. Many seek institutions which offer excellent academic programs and career preparation as well as ethical and spiritual development.

To help students and families focus their search, Peterson's Guides of Princeton, New Jersey has recently released a special guide to schools which offer a good balance of academic rigor and spiritual nurture. The newly released fifth edition of Peterson's Choose A Christian College profiles the 90 member institutions of the Coalition for Christian Colleges and Universities.

Evangelist Billy Graham said of the book, "Every student wanting to grow in his faith to Christ should be considering one of the colleges described in this helpful resource."

The reader has at his or her fingertips each school's application deadline, tuition and fees, undergraduate profile, academic programs, study-abroad sites, financial aid information, athletic opportunities, and people to contact. Described are special opportunities for students at Coalition schools to study in Washington DC, Hollywood, Costa Rica, Egypt, and Russia. An essay entitled "Why Choose a Christian College?" will appeal to those unsure whether a Christian college is for them.

Huntington College is featured in a full-page profile in the new guide. Readers will learn that Huntington College was founded in 1897 "to equip men and women to impact our world for Christ." Huntington's many majors and academic concentrations are listed. Specific information is provided about Huntington's unique tuition-freeze program. The guide also lists a phone number for prospective students to request a free, interactive DVD that provides detailed information about the campus.

Roger Cross, President of Youth for Christ/USA states, "College influences every aspect of your life. The book describes a wonderful array of Christian colleges which integrate quality education with spiritual growth. That combination is hard to beat."

The guide is available at bookstores or by calling Peterson's at 1-800-338-3282. You can also find out more about Christian colleges and universities on the Internet (www.cccu.org).
