Huntington University honors 216 graduates

Huntington, Ind. "Today, Huntington University honored 216 graduates from the class of 2008. The university's 110th commencement service took place at 3 p.m., with Dr. Jerry Jenkins, best-selling author, delivering the commencement address.

Dr. Luke Fetters, associate professor of ministry and missions, gave the baccalaureate sermon to graduates and their parents at 10:30 a.m.

Huntington University awarded the Master of Arts degree, the Master of Education degree, the Diploma in Pastoral Leadership, the Bachelor of Arts degree, the Bachelor of Music degree, the Bachelor of Science degree, Bachelor of Social Work degree and the Associate of Science degree.

Honorary degrees also were given to Jenkins, the Rev. Russell and Nellie Birdsall, and the Rev. Owen Gordon.

Sandra Rufener graduated with a Master of Arts degree in counseling ministries while her daughter, Mary Rufener, earned a Bachelor of Science degree in educational ministries. They are from Lima, Ohio.
