McPherren appointed to Senior Leadership Team

Huntington, Ind. "Huntington University business professor Dr. Ann McPherren has been appointed to vice president for university planning and strategy. McPherren will report directly to the president and will be part of the Senior Leadership Team. Dr. McPherren will help us build on past successes and strategically prepare for the future, said Dr. G. Blair Dowden, president. She brings a wealth of experience and keen insight to this new role. Dr. McPherren has capably demonstrated her superb leadership abilities in the areas of academic program development and strategic planning. Her expertise, experience and perspective will be invaluable to our University."
As a vice president, McPherren will be responsible for the coordination, development, implementation and monitoring of the new strategic plan and process. Serving as vice president one-half time, McPherren will continue as professor of business and economics, teaching six hours each semester.
I'm excited to have the opportunity to help Huntington University plan for the future, said McPherren, who celebrates 25 years of service at the University this year. We continue to strive to help students develop able minds and loving hearts to serve our local community and the world beyond it. We have been blessed with more than 100 years of service in Christian higher education and want to sow the seeds in planning that will lead to even more effective service in the coming years.
McPherren graduated from Huntington North High School in 1975 and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Huntington University and a Master of Science degree in management science from Ball State University. McPherren completed her Ed.D. at Ball State in 1992.
While at Huntington, McPherren served as assistant academic dean from 1988 to 1999. She also has served as chairperson of the Division of Business and Social Sciences, chair of the strategic planning council, and as a member of the academic policies committee. McPherren teaches a variety of business and economics courses and also serves as a faculty sponsor for the Huntington University Alpha Chi Honor Society.
McPherren is active in the local community as well. She is a current member of the Markle Bank Board of Directors and chair for the 2006 Huntington County United Way Campaign. She is a past member of the board of directors for the Huntington County United Way, the Pathfinder Foundation and Huntington County Leadership.
McPherren is a member of Seminary United Methodist Church in Roanoke, Ind.
