NACCAP recognizes HC admissions staff
Huntington, Ind. " May 30-June 2 the Huntington College admissions staff traveled to Bethel College in Minnesota to attend the National Association of Christian College Admissions Personnel (NACCAP) annual conference. NACCAP is an organization comprised of over 150 Christian liberal arts and Bible colleges in the US and Canada with over 450 people participating in the 2001 conference.
During the conference awards banquet, two Huntington staff members were honored. Karol Caley, Admissions Office Manager, was honored with the NACCAP North Central Regional Service award. The 13 statewide North Central region contains the largest grouping of schools in NACCAP. Caley has served in the admissions office since 1988 and skillfully contributes to the office operations by maintaining admissions files and databases and organizing mailing efforts.
Jeff Berggren, Dean of Enrollment, also received a Service Recognition Award after completing a three-year term as vice-president of NACCAP. Berggren has led the admissions efforts of Huntington College for the past eight years. Under his leadership, the school has seen an overall enrollment growth of 63%. Projections for fall 2001 also look promising. To date, the college has received a record number of applications, has accepted a record number of students, and has received a record number of deposits from students intending to enroll at Huntington in the fall.
June 15 and 16 marks the annual registration weekend for these incoming students. The weekend provides an opportunity for freshmen and their parents to become more familiar with college life by spending a weekend on campus. Students meet peers, faculty, staff, and administrators and register for fall classes with an academic advisor. Several photo opportunities will be available during this event including the opening session and seminars held in the Merillat Centre for the Arts on June 15 from 6:30 p.m.-8:40 p.m. and the HC Olympic Games, also on June 15, held in the Merillat Center for Physical Education from 9:00 p.m.-10:30 p.m.
