Paff appointed chairman of CCCU commission

Huntington, Ind. " John Paff, APR, executive assistant to the president and executive director of communications at Huntington College, was recently named chair of the Council for Christian Colleges and Universities' (CCCU) Commission for Public Relations Officers (CPRO).

The CPRO exists to assist the CCCU in the fulfillment of its mission to advance the cause of Christian higher education. The CPRO will focus its efforts on external communications, particularly in effective communication to various audiences concerning the unique contributions of Christ-centered higher education in the American higher education system.

As chair, Paff is responsible for convening and chairing meetings, acting as the principal liaison with the CCCU President and staff, and acting as the liaison with other commissions as necessary. His term expires in January 2008.

Paff is joined on the committee by eight public relations personnel from other CCCU institutions. Together, they will head the focus of the CPRO's work in the following areas:

Professional development, including an annual conference

Technological innovations applicable to cooperative efforts

Cooperative media relations and public communication projects

Advising the CCCU regarding public relations strategies and tactics

Legal, legislative and ethical issues impacting communication officers

Paff holds a bachelor's degree in social studies/secondary education from Oral Roberts University and a master's degree in public policy from Regent University. Prior to joining the Huntington College staff as the chief communications officer in 1993, he served at the National Legal Foundation, a public interest law firm specializing in the protection of religious liberties.

Paff enjoys gardening, birding, cooking, and fly-fishing. He resides in Huntington, Indiana, with his wife Jeanne, and their four sons.

The CCCU is an international higher education association of intentionally Christian colleges and universities. Founded in 1976 with 38 members, the Council has grown to 105 members in North America and 71 affiliate institutions in 24 countries. The CCCU is a nonprofit organization headquartered on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C.
