Savage to discuss ‘world of opportunity’ for graduates
FOR RELEASE: Tuesday, March 7, 2006
Huntington, Ind. "Kelly Savage will deliver the upcoming Forester Lecture at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, March 21, 2006, in the Zurcher Auditorium of the Merillat Centre for the Arts. Savage, vice president of human resources for Alticor Inc., will present World War III: The Global Battle for Talent. The lecture is free and open to the public. Savage will address what seems to be a world of opportunity for college graduates throughout the next 10 years.
A top priority for chief executive officers is hiring and developing talent to gain a competitive advantage in the marketplace, Savage said. For many CEOs, this priority is turning into a 'war' as competition for talent becomes progressively fierce as the baby boomer generation begins to retire.
Since the Bureau of Labor Statistics predicts that 4.6 million jobs will go unfulfilled by 2008, 75 percent of those requiring a college degree, Savage will present examples and advice on how to win in this war for talent. She will address issues such as the global and U.S. dynamics that are creating the demand for talent, how to define talent, advantages Christians have, and what corporations are doing to appeal to Generation Y.
Savage has been with Alticor Inc., a multi-billion dollar international company, since 1988. She holds a bachelor's degree in accounting from Huntington University, and a master's degree in business administration degree from Colorado State University.
