Souers elected Chairman of Board

HUNTINGTON, IN " The Huntington College Board of Trustees recently elected Mr. Edward E. Souers, CPA, as Chairman of the Board. A member of the Board since 1998, Souers filled the role of vice chairman this past year. Souers earned his Bachelor's of Science degree in 1977 from Huntington College in accounting, business administration and business education. He is currently managing partner of Christen Souers LLC, a local accounting firm in Fort Wayne, Ind. Part of my motivation to give and serve the college is because I took a lot out of it, said Souers. My Huntington College experience has allowed me to be where I am today. And now I'm more than willing to give back.
In 2003, Souers began encouraging his clients to consider the Indiana College credit, a tax deduction available through donations to Indiana colleges. Souers offered an additional tax preparation discount to clients donating to Huntington College. His firm has also placed magazine ads endorsing the Huntington College EXCEL program for adults and has hosted Huntington students for experiential learning opportunities.
Also in Board elections in mid-October, Kelly Savage was elected Vice Chair of the Board. Savage is, chief information officer for Alticor, the parent company of Amway, Quixtar and Access Business Group. David Tinkey, a commercial banking finance manager for Bank One in Indianapolis, Ind., was elected Secretary of the Board.
