Tinkey elected Secretary of Board

Huntington, Ind. "The Huntington College Board of Trustees recently elected David Tinkey to the position of Secretary of the Board. Tinkey, a 1980 business graduate of Huntington College, is a certified public account and is currently a commercial banking finance manager for Bank One in Indianapolis, Ind.

Tinkey has a long record of community service that includes serving on the board of directors of Community Fellowship Ministries, a multi-faceted inner-city outreach program that helps local residents develop workplace skills. He has also held several leadership positions at his home congregation, Traders Point Christian Church, in the areas of missions, evangelism and stewardship.

During the trustee meetings in mid-October, the Board also voted to change the name of the institution to Huntington University, effective before the beginning of the 2005-06 school year. "The change to university status reflects the expanded mission of Huntington as a Christian, liberal arts institution, both in what we have already accomplished and also look to accomplish in the future," Tinkey said.

Along with the election of Tinkey, Edward Souers, managing partner of Christen Souers LLC, a local accounting firm in Fort Wayne, Ind., was elected Chairman of the Board, and Kelly Savage, chief information officer for Alticor, the parent company of Amway, Quixtar and Access Business Group, was elected Vice Chair of the Board.
