FOR RELEASE: Wednesday, April 23, 2008
Huntington, Ind. "The Best Christian Workplaces Institute has certified Huntington University as a 2008 Best Christian Workplace. We are honored to be certified as a Best Christian Workplace, said Julie Hendryx, director of human resources and auxiliary services. We are appreciative of the hard work and dedication of the employees that serve at Huntington University. It is wonderful to work among fellow believers in a Christ-centered environment.
The certification is the result of Huntington University's participation in the 2008 Best Christian Workplaces Survey. Employees completed the survey at the end of 2007. Huntington was among six institutions in its category that obtained certification as a 2008 Best Christian Workplace.
Criterion for certification included job satisfaction, commitment to the organization, Christian witness, supervisory effectiveness, work satisfaction, personal growth and development, management effectiveness, customer/supporter satisfaction, teamwork, communications, and pay and benefits.
The survey, administered by the Best Christian Workplaces Institute, involved more than 7,834 employees in 67 organizations across the U.S. to identify great workplaces with a Christian mission and/or values.
The formal announcement regarding certifications was made April 23 at the Christian Leadership Alliance Conference in Dallas and will be published on Christianity Today International's online magazine.
The Best Christian Workplaces Institute has surveyed more than 60,000 employees across North America in the past six years. BCWI is a research based organizational and human resources consulting firm based on Mercer Island, Wash.
With the tight labor market, organizations are more concerned than ever about finding and keeping their talent. Having high levels of employee engagement not only leads to superior results but is like a magnet for attracting loyal staff, said Al Lopus, president of BCWI.
