‘Words, Words, Words’ to be presented at festival

Huntington, Ind. "The Region III selection committee for the Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival has chosen Words, Words, Words by David Ives to participate in the Evening of Scenes at the regional festival to be held January 10-15, 2006.

Words, Word, Words was presented by the Huntington University Theatre Company in September, 2005, as part of Sure Thing, an Evening of David Ives, directed by Mike Burnett, chairman of the Department of Theatre Arts.

The 'Evening of Scenes' is typically reserved for associate entries to the Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival, but because of the strength of the acting in 'Sure Thing,' the committee wanted a representative piece at the festival, Burnett said.

Words, Words, Words was student directed by Hannah Krauskopf, a junior educational ministries major from Huntington, Ind., and featured Josh Dawes, a senior English education major from Leesburg, Ind.; Jeff Blossom, a senior film studies major from Fort Wayne, Ind.; and Lindsay Stalf, a sophomore broadcasting major from Angola, Ind.

The Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival was started in 1969 by the Kennedy Center's founding chairman Roger L. Stevens. The festival is a national theater program and includes 18,000 students from colleges and universities all over the country. Students and artists from more than 600 academic institutions throughout the U.S. feature their work and receive evaluation from festival respondents.
