Art and Design Seniors’ Farewell Exhibit

Meet a few members of the Class of 2024

Before the Department of Art and Design seniors graduate with their fellow members of the Class of 2024, Huntington University wishes to celebrate their hard work with a dedicated exhibit to close out the 2023-2024 academic year. We have two seniors showcasing their work in the exhibit Pantone 04-1224, on display in the Robert E. Wilson Art Gallery. Project descriptions were provided by Dr. Barb Michel, department chair and professor of art.

Savannah Hassler – Art education major

  1. Seeing the Sound: A series of illustrations inspired by the band Greta Van Fleet. Using drawing and painting mediums, the artist encapsulated the lyrics and emotions of various songs in detailed compositions.
  2. A Passage of Time: Includes mixed media pieces that show how the artist has evolved over her time as an art student at Huntington University. Both drawing and collage work are featured.

Mallory Martin – Studio art major

  1. Becoming an Artist: A series of paintings that incorporate large painterly strokes and focus on elements of color composition.
  2. Life Stages: A group of large black and white photographs of the artist showing different stages of life. Hand stitching and acrylic paint are featured on each work.

Dr. Michel also mentioned, “These seniors have worked on their senior projects over the past two semesters. For the exhibit, they did everything from designing their own marketing to selecting their refreshments for the evening of the gallery reception. They also installed their exhibit.”

The exhibit will be open from Thursday, April 4 to Sunday, April 28 in the Robert E. Wilson Art Gallery. The gallery is open Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

The gallery reception will be held Friday, April 12 from 6:00-7:30 p.m. On this day, both seniors will give artist talks at 6:30 p.m. All are welcome to attend.

Once again, congratulations to our graduating art and design seniors. We cannot wait to see the future you will capture in your art. You represent the creativity of Foresters, using gifts from God to push the boundaries of your chosen mediums. We look forward to viewing Pantone 04-1224.
