Coffee Cups Series: JJ Java

Part 1 of 3

Calling all coffee drinkers! (And non-coffee drinkers, too!)

There is something magical about going to a coffee shop to catch up with a friend, do homework, or read a book. Luckily, Huntington has several to choose from! In this series, we will visit three local coffee shops to learn more about the delectable drinks and cozy atmospheres they provide!

Stop #1: JJ Java
Location: 2840 Guilford St.
Hours

My Favorites: Iced Carmilla Latte or Iced Forester’s Brew

The first stop in our coffee cup series is connected to the local JJ’s gas station and is one of HU students’ most loved coffee shops: JJ Java. Affectionately known as JJ’s, this coffee shop serves a variety of drinks, such as coffee, tea, smoothies, and juice. Along with a fresh bakery, local business items for sale, free Wi-Fi, and comfortable seating, JJ Java provides the perfect atmosphere for catching up with friends.

While studying there may be a little more challenging because of the many sights and sounds, JJ Java is the place to go if you are grabbing a drink and then heading back to campus for a study session. Their drive-thru is efficient and accessible, which is perfect if you are in a time crunch. JJ Java also has an incredibly friendly and welcoming staff. In my four years at HU, I have gotten to know several of the baristas at JJ Java, and they always have amazing drink recommendations.

Out of all the stops in our coffee tour, JJ Java is by far the most budget friendly. Every HU student has $25 in Forester Bucks, which can be used in the Huntington community at select business. Thankfully, JJ Java is one of those places! Even if you aren’t using Forester Bucks, still let your barista know that you are an HU student, because you will receive a 25% discount on drinks and bakery items. As a coffee addict, I have used this discount too many times to count. Another opportunity that customers of JJ Java can use is the point system. When you sign up for the rewards program, you earn points for each item you purchase, and as your points accumulate, you can use them to get free coffee or a bakery item.

If you are interested in checking out all the drinks and bakery items that JJ Java has to offer, as well as how to enter the rewards program, you can visit their website! They also have Instagram and Facebook accounts (@jjjava), which are always updated with information on drink specials and holiday releases. JJ Java was the first stop on our coffee cups road trip, and with their cost-friendly coffee and friendly atmosphere, they are hard to beat. Follow this series to see what stop #2, Cafe of Hope, has to offer!
