Fantastic Events to Attend in October
The beautiful autumn leaves surrounding Lake Sno-Tip are already a good reason to visit Huntington University’s home campus in the fall, but our lineup of October events in the Merillat Centre for the Arts will surely take lovely autumn evenings to the next level. Come see the trees at golden hour, then attend an event!
October in the MCA offers a bit of something for everyone. A band concert, senior showcases, and a guest lecture will headline our Zurcher Auditorium and Longaker Recital Hall stages. Plus, Terry Pulley’s exhibition of paintings will be on display all month in the Robert E. Wilson Art Gallery.
Consider this your invitation to join us! All of these events are free and open to the public:
1. October 10: Symphonic Band Concert
7:30 p.m.
Zurcher Auditorium
Our first ensemble performance of the academic year will feature Huntington University’s own Symphonic Band, comprised of HU students and Huntington community members.
2. October 20: Senior Recital and Theatre Arts Showcase
7:30 p.m.
Longaker Recital Hall
This special crossover event between the Departments of Music and Theatre Arts will feature both a senior music recital and a theatre arts senior showcase. Emily Kars, soprano, will give the recital. The annual theatre arts senior showcase will highlight the talents of our graduating seniors as they present songs, scenes, and displays that are the culmination of their years of study in performance and design.
3. October 26: Forester Lecture
7:30 p.m.
Longaker Recital Hall
In our second Forester Lecture of the semester, Dr. Joshua Swamidass will join us for a talk titled “The Genealogy of Adam and Eve.” Swamidass is an associate professor of laboratory and genomic medicine and a faculty lead of translational bioinformatics in the Institute for Informatics at Washington University in St. Louis.
