Get Involved

There’s no need to wait for HU Opportunities to think about how you can get involved, however. We can give you a sneak peek now!

One of the best ways to feel like you belong in college is to get involved in the campus community through various clubs and groups. To help students find their place to belong, Huntington University hosts an event called HU Opportunities at the beginning of the academic year. During HU Opportunities, all the clubs and organizations on home campus have a chance to set up a booth and present themselves. This event gives students time to hear about programs that might interest them and learn how to get signed up.

There’s no need to wait for HU Opportunities to think about how you can get involved, however. We can give you a sneak peek now! Here are just some of the ways to get involved as an HU student:

  • SAB — Our Student Activities Board (SAB) plans several events during the school year, and you can be one of the student leaders who helps organize them! From our biggest tradition, Olympiad, to relaxed events like Chick-fil-A and Chick Flick night, there is something for everyone. If you don’t want to be one of the team members planning, you can always be involved simply by regularly attending these fun events.
  • SGA – The Student Government Association (SGA), our general student council, is an incredible way to get involved if you want to help be a voice for students. You can get involved by running for student body president, vice president, treasurer, or secretary. If you don’t want to be on the executive board, you can represent other groups on campus such as your class (freshman-senior) or your residence hall. You will help plan events as well as voice student concerns to faculty/staff who help make important changes.
  • RAs & Sojourners —Each floor has at least one Residence Assistant (RA) and one Sojourner who are there to help cultivate relationships and serve as a safe resource for questions and concerns. The RAs plan floor events to bring everyone together and help their residents feel like they belong at HU. Sojourners serve as a spiritual mentor on the floor. They plan spiritual formation opportunities that encourage their residents to come as they are, ask hard questions, and point each other toward Jesus. Being an RA or Sojourner is an amazing way to get involved if you feel called to help others feel included, safe, and valued.
  • MAC & ISC — Our Multicultural Activities Council (MAC) and International Student Council (ISC) work to promote an awareness and celebration of diversity and culture on campus. Students in MAC are devoted to incorporating events throughout the year to celebrate cultural heritage and history. ISC is made up of our international student population, and they plan events throughout the year that reflect the countries they are from. These organizations help students learn more about each other, ask questions, and embrace interconnectedness.
  • Athletics — Are you passionate about your sport? Do you want to continue competing in college? HU is part of the NAIA and can offer scholarships to athletes. Participating in one (or more) of our athletic teams can help you build a strong community on campus. Or maybe you love playing sports but are not interested in continuing competitively in college — that’s okay too! We have plenty of intramurals, including co-ed soccer, sand volleyball, basketball, and even PowderPuff!

These are only a few of the ways to get involved. There are over 70 different programs on Huntington University’s home campus, including a Horticulture Club, Undignified dance crew, a capella groups, academic honor societies, intramurals, and more! You can view a list of our clubs online.
