Air Force woodwind quintet to present free concert

Huntington, Ind. " The United States Air Force HUFFMAN PRAIRIE WINDS return to Huntington College on Friday, October 13 to present a chamber music concert at 8 p.m. in the Longaker Recital Hall of the Merillat Centre for the Arts.

The woodwind quintet is one of three classical chamber ensembles with The United States Air Force Band of Flight. The HUFFMAN PRAIRIE WINDS quintet is stationed at Wright Patterson Air Force Base in Ohio. The ensemble is named for the nearby historic plain where the Wright brothers conducted many of their early aviation experiments.

The quintet includes Senior Airman Sandra Tiemens, flute, Senior Airman Ashley Mullins, oboe, Staff Sergeant Shelley Steepe, clarinet, Staff Sergeant Robert Jordan, bassoon, and Senior Airman Kristen TenWolde, horn.

The quintet was founded in 1984 and has since entertained audiences in many different settings, including social functions for military and civilian dignitaries, high schools and colleges, and formal recitals.

Friday's performance will include music by Bach, Gounod, Ibert, Buyanovsky, Wilder, Arnold, Hoiby and Weait.
