Akins, Wilson recognized as April Peer Award recipients

HUNTINGTON, Ind.- The Huntington University Peer Award recipients for April are Arthur Wilson, director of urban scholarship and mentoring, and Susan Akins, registration services coordinator.

The Peer Award, which began in 2003, promotes acknowledgement and recognition of the outstanding efforts of Huntington University faculty and staff members. Award winners are chosen and recognized each month by fellow peers.

Wilson was recognized by Paul Nalliah, administrative systems administrator, who that he selected Wilson because of his leadership and mentoring to the students in the Horizon Leadership Program.

"He has a positive influence on those around him and has a heart for the students' success at Huntington University," Nalliah said. "Arthur's influence on the Huntington University campus is extensive and greatly appreciated."

Akins was recognized by Tana Fortney, accounting clerk, for being a "compassionate, caring and dedicated individual."

"She is always pleasant and very helpful to those who need her assistance both on and off campus and will go the extra mile to help in any way that she can. She truly has a servant's heart," Fortney said.
